4. Don’t Do Too Much
I know I just told you to get up and walk around, but please do not do too much. Even if you are feeling great, remember your body just went through major surgery and still needs to recover and rest. When I came home from the hospital I remember feeling so good that I just wanted to do so much. I cleaned, organized, went to Target, and then ended up paying for it in the long run. I completely wiped myself out and got incredibly tired and emotional. Just try to relax. All the cleaning and organizing can be done by someone else.

5. Stock Up On Stool Softeners
Ok, this is going to be really gross, but this definitely has to be talked about when discussing c-section recovery. Passing stools for a few days and even a few weeks after your surgery is really going to hurt. A few times I actually cried. It will cause horrible pains in your abdomen. I was so afraid something was wrong and when I asked the nurse about it she told me it was completely normal. I was a little relieved, but also scared because I didn’t want to have to endure that pain again. So, make sure to take your stool softeners. It will help your body pass stools more easily. If your doctor hasn’t prescribed you any, ask them to.

6. Have A Pillow By Your Side At All Times For A Few Weeks
Any time you stand up, sit down, walk, cough, laugh, or sneeze, it is going to feel like your incision is ripping open. I promise it’s not, but it does hurt. To help alleviate this, carry around a pillow with you at all times. Press it against your tummy when doing any of these things and the pressure will help relieve some of the pain.
