9 Things That Will Never Be The Same After You Have Kids

It’s no doubt that having children is one of the most rewarding, exciting, and fun things you’ll ever experience. However, with that said, it also completely changes your life both for the good and the bad. Just because you love those little munchkins more than you could ever explain, doesn’t mean that you don’t have your hard days, or you don’t sometimes secretly wish you could just go back to the way things were for a minute when you didn’t have kids. Life was more simple without kids, but that doesn’t mean we would trade our life with kids for anything. It’s kind of funny, actually to look at our lives now with children and realize how different they are and how different they always will be.

1. Sleep

The amount of sleep as well as the quality of sleep both drastically change when you have kids. Sleep will never, ever be the same again. Even if you’re on vacation away from the kids, chances are you’ll still wake up in the middle of the night or wake up at the crack of dawn out of habit. It’s a vicious cycle that never ends.

2. Privacy

Say goodbye to privacy when you have children. From the second your child is born, the nurses are checking your breasts to make sure you’re nursing correctly or they’re asking you if you’ve had a bowel movement. Then when your children gets older, those little monsters follow you into the bathroom and talk to you while you’re using the toilet or taking a shower. Even though it’s a compliment that they want to be with you and spend time with you, it’s still frustrating to not be able to get a moment alone, even while using the bathroom.

3. Movie/TV Watching

Remember those lazy Sundays you used to spend with your spouse where you’d stay in your PJs and watch movies all day long? Yeah, well, once you have kids, you no longer can watch all your favorite shows and movies at any time. If they’re awake, you have to put on something kid friendly not only because it’s appropriate for their age, but also because if you don’t you’ll never have peace. They’ll be asking you every two minutes to put on Mickey Mouse or Thomas The Train.
