How To Include Your Kids In Your Wedding Ceremony

For those partners that already have kids together or you are getting married the second time, it is nothing unusual to have your kids in your wedding. The best way to do so is to ask them how they would like to be incorporated and find a compromise that is age-appropriate. Here are a few great ideas to include your little ones in the wedding ceremony.

Bring them to Your Cake Tastings

There is nothing that will make them more excited than being able to test out a bunch of cakes for lunch. Another great thing is that it will show them how much you appreciate their opinion, and they will be able to feel that they helped pick the cake. If you disagree on the taste you can make the cake half and half, or the kids can have their cake.

Give Them A Special “Morning-of” Gift

It is so simple for the kids to feel excluded and sad when it comes to the wedding day because all the adults will be rushing around, and everything is about the bride and the groom and not about them. That is why you should give them a gift that will make them feel included and loved for their new family role.

Let Them Create their Signature Drink

Another great way to let your kids have fun and be comfortable in the ceremony is to let them make their signature drink for those who don’t drink alcohol. It is okay for everybody to be on a sugar rush on that special day.

Make Them Bridesmaids And Groomsmen

Who said that your bridesmaids and groomsmen need to be adults, so why not let your kids take their spot and have some fun. It will work exceptionally great if you have kids that are older than eight. Younger kids are usually the rig bearers or flower girls because they don’t have to a standstill. You can even make them a part of your group and give them outfits to make the bridesmaids or the groomsmen.

Include Them In Planning As Much As You Can

The best way to knock things off your to-do list as well as make your kids feel included in the ceremony is to let them help out with simple tasks. For example, writing out place cards or even choosing your perfect wedding car hire can make them feel included. You can also, make sure that the car is big enough to fit all of you in it.

Write Them Into Your Vows

One of the best and most popular ways to incorporate your kids in your wedding is by including them in your vows. That way,  they will feel included as well as special enough. You must remember that you are being a family and not just gaining a member. But this is more for kids who are a bit older because they need to understand what you’re saying and the importance of vows.

Ask Them To Walk You Down The Aisle

There is nothing more special and no better way to incorporate your kids into your wedding than walking with them down the aisle. If you have more kids, you can make a switch, or you can walk down the aisle with everybody at once.

Have Them Do A Little Performance At The Wedding

If your kids are passionate and talented, why not let them have their moment to shine too. It can be anything from reciting poetry, dancing to singing your first dance song. It will make them feel special because they will be performing in front of everyone on your big day. If they are not into performing and all the attention being on them, you can have your first dance with everybody included, or if you have multiple kids, everybody can have their turn.

Have Them As Your Flower Girl Or Ring Bearer

The most common way to include your kids in your wedding ceremony is to make them your flower girl or ring bearers. It is a simple and classic role that any kid will like to partake in.

As you can see, there are so many cool ways you can include your kids in your wedding and have fun. It is your big special day, and everybody needs to be included in it.
