6. They are now able to dress and undress themselves
Once a child is able to dress and undress themselves, especially in a bathroom area, be sure to praise them for a job well done. No child will be ready to toilet train before this fundamental action occurs, and it needs to happen on a consistent basis so that the child has the ability to pull their garments up and down. Congratulate them when they can accomplish this task on their own.
