10. Growing Feet
When I was in my third trimmest with my son I noticed that my shoes weren’t fitting very well anymore. I just figured it was because I was a little swollen. Then, to my surprise, a few months postpartum, they still didn’t fit! I couldn’t wear half of my shoes because they were too small on me. Little did I know that your feet can actually grow while pregnant! The tendons and muscles in your body become really loose while pregnant and that combined with the extra weight you’re carrying around can cause your feet to expand and grow. This was one of the saddest side effects of being pregnant because I had to get rid of so many shoes that I loved!
11. Leaky Nipples
I always knew that my breasts would start to leak or secrete breast milk once I actually had the baby, but I never knew that they could leak weeks and even months before the baby even came! This never happened to me during my first pregnancy, but with my second, I was in the beginning of my third trimester when all of the sudden one day I noticed that my bra was a little wet. I took my bra off and sure enough my nipples were leaking! This is totally normal, by the way, so if it happens to you, don’t be alarmed.
12. Lightening Crotch
Just the words “lightening crotch” sound horrible don’t they? Trust me, it is pretty horrible! All of the sudden near the end of your pregnancy you’ll start to feel shooting pains in your pelvic and groin area that will shoot through to your vagina and even to your rectum. When I first felt these I was really alarmed and concerned, but when I looked it up, I learned that it, too, was completely normal as the baby moves farther down into your pelvic area putting pressure on your cervix. So, even though they can really hurt, don’t be concerned as it’s a normal side effect of being pregnant.
