Pregnancy can be a really beautiful thing, but it can also be really strange. I always pictured pregnancy to be this beautiful, amazing experience where I would have the “pregnancy glow” and it would be like I was floating on clouds. For the most part, I really did enjoy being pregnant and I loved most parts of it, but I have to say, there are so many things that are not fun, but just weird and painful that happen when you’re pregnant. These things aren’t always talked about and unless you’re really close with someone that is pregnant or has been pregnant, you might never hear about these things until it actually happens to you. To prepare yourself for some of the weird stuff that’s going to happen to your body some day, check out these 12 strange things that happen during pregnancy.
1. You’ll Forget A Lot…And I Mean A Lot
When you’re expecting, you have a lot on your mind. Nursery colors and decor, what bottles to buy, how to deal with labor pain, how you’ll survive on such little sleep…I could go on and on. Since so much of your brain is taken up by thoughts like this, it’s no wonder that pregnant women are so forgetful! This was one of the most frustrating parts of pregnancy for me. I’m usually not a forgetful person, but man it seems like every time my husband asked me to do something, I would completely forget about it. And of course, he doesn’t understand and then you have to try to explain something called “pregnancy brain” and he’ll think you’re crazy.
2. Your Belly Button Is A Strange Place
I never really had any weird encounters with my belly button during my first pregnancy, but near the end of my second pregnancy, I noticed some weird things about my belly button. It seemed really dirty, even though I have always washed inside of it often. The strange thing was that it didn’t clean easily. I had to scrub really hard for the stuff to come out. At first I thought it was just me, but when I looked it up on the internet, there were so many other women that experienced the same thing, which made me feel better because I started thinking I was really gross.
3. Hemmoroids Are Alive And Well
Oh boy, this is a fun one. Hemorrhoids are no joke people, and they are very common during pregnancy. You may get them because you’re constipated and having a hard time passing a bowel movement, or maybe you’re taking extra iron supplements prescribed by your doctor which is causing them. Either way, it doesn’t really matter WHY you get them, what matters is that they HURT! If you do get them, be very sensitive to the area and ask your doctor the best steps to take in order to help them go away.
