In a world where everyone is incredibly busy and too distracted with their own lives to notice other people’s needs it’s pertinent that we teach our children how to be kind and to help others. As parents we want our children to be polite, kind, helpful, and service oriented. One of the best ways to teach a child how to be a wonderful person is to teach them to serve others. It takes their focus off of themselves and onto others. Here are 10 ways to serve others with our children so they learn by example and grow up to be wonderful people.
1. Make A Dinner For Someone
After we had my son I so dearly appreciated the meals that people brought for my husband and I the first few days after I gave birth. Taking meals to people who are in need is a great act of service that everyone appreciates. Children, even at a very young age, can help stir and mix food, so get the whole family helping out with making the dinner. Even if your 2 year old helps you hold the spoon as you stir the noodles in the pot, at least they can help contribute. After the dinner is ready, take the dinner with the whole family to the person in need so your little one can see why they are doing this act of service.
