7. Vicks VapoRub
If you’re struggling with congestion, rub a little bit of Vicks VapoRub on your nose and chest. The menthol almost immediately clears your sinuses and allows you to breathe again! Having this on your nose will also keep it from getting red and sore from blowing your nose every few minutes.
8. Sleep Upright
I know all you want to do when you’re sick is lay down, but that can actually be one of the worst things to do. Well, it’s okay to lay down, but when you do, be sure that your head is slightly elevated. This will allow your sinuses to drain instead of sitting inside your head all night long. Bed Bath & Beyond sells a great wedge pillow or you can just prop yourself up with some of your own.
9. Essential Oils
I’ll be honest, I’ve never really used essential oils before, but I know plenty of people who swear by them. I know that there can be a lot of benefits to using these. There are a few oil mixes made specifically for cold and flu symptoms and you can use mixtures on your own to help alleviate your symptoms, as well. Be sure to speak with a professional on which oils are safe to use, as there are many that should never be used while pregnant. 10. REST
Okay, I know you’re probably laughing at me for telling you to rest, but you must try to rest as much as possible when you’re sick, especially if you’re pregnant. If you have little ones at home, take it easy by lying on the couch and watching movies with them instead of the usual playtime. Cleaning, laundry, and errands can wait until you’re better. Have your husband cook dinner or pick it up on his way home so you can get some extra rest. The more you rest, the more your body is able to fight the real problem at hand which is the virus attacking your body.
