Pregnancy is wonderful. You’re growing a beautiful life inside your body and with that comes some other great benefits, like flatulence, morning sickness, sciatic nerve pain, and heartburn. I mean who doesn’t love having those things, right? WRONG! They’re definitely some of the more frustrating aspects of being pregnant. For me, I usually don’t get heartburn until I’m more than halfway through my pregnancy, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a great nuisance. I’m actually pregnant right now and the heartburn just started this week, so I decided to research some ways to help reduce, prevent, and manage my heartburn, and here are some ways I found.
1. Drink Lots Of Water
There’s a trick when it comes to drinking water when you’re pregnant: in order to avoid getting heartburn, be sure to drink water all day long instead of large amounts at one time. Drinking too much water at one time may fill your stomach up too much and make the heartburn problem worse. So remember, slow and steady wins the race.
2. Drink Lemon Water
Surprisingly lemons have a great ability to soothe heartburn. I know that seems like the exact opposite effect since lemons are very acidic and seem like they would make the heartburn worse. However, drinking lemon water before meals will help keep the heartburn under control.
3. Drink Coconut Water
Coconut water has become increasingly popular over the years because of it’s many great properties and benefits. One of those benefits is soothing heartburn. It helps reduce inflammation and soothes the digestive tract. Drinking a few ounces of it before every meal should definitely help reduce the chance of heartburn.
