Apple Pie by Grandma Ople
Ingredients
1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
1/2 cup unsalted butter
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
8 Granny Smith apples – peeled, cored and sliced
Directions
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Heat butter until melted in saucepan, adding in flour until thoroughly mixed. Add water, both sugars and heat until boiling. Reduce heat until simmering.
Lay piecrust in designated pan and layer apples and cover with a lattice work crust. Using caution so as not to spill, pour sugar and butter mixture over apples and crust.
Bake pie for 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350 degrees. Bake for an additional 35-45 minutes, until crust is golden and filling is soft.
