The word “vacation” usually conjures up images of surf and sand, relaxing meal times and laying around the pool doing absolutely nothing. At least, that’s what you thought of before you had children! Now when I think of vacations, I think of tons of extra baggage, disrupted sleep and no schedules being followed whatsoever. The older your kids get, the more fun vacations become. However if you still have little ones, vacations can seem more stressful than they’re worth, especially if your kids aren’t sleeping well. We all know our children operate their best under a good night’s sleep, and no one wants to let their vacations suffer because of sleep deprivation! We’ve gathered a handful of tips to help your kids get the sleep the need and the vacation you all deserve!
1. Keep To Your Routine As Must As You Can
Your kids are going to be experiencing a lot of sensory overload on vacation: new sights, sounds and smells. They find their routine calming so its best to keep as much of it as you can, especially your bed time routine. Continue with your bath time, reading, songs or whatever you do to prepare your children for bed. Stick to the actual bed TIME as well. You may have to do a little planning to make sure you can get out of your dinner restaurant at a decent hour, but it will be worth it if your kids get a good nights sleep. If you are going through a time change, try and adjust as best as possible, taking into account your kids exhaustion. After the first day, they should get back on track.
