
6. Give Clear Warnings
Our natural inclination is to just yell “STOP” when our kids are headed for trouble. But your toddler has a lot going on and they don’t know what you’re telling them to stop doing. Give clear warnings about what they need to cease doing, such as “Stay on the Sidewalk.” Usually you’re giving yourself enough time to get close to grab their hand. Once you’re there, then talk about why you told them to stop or stay and determine if it’s time to head home or go in the stroller.
