I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but over the last few years door mats have really become quite the statement piece of decor for your porch. They are no longer just for wiping your feet…now they make people laugh and smile with their witty sayings and fun photos. With Halloween just around the corner, I have seen quite a few great ones, and I thought I’d share them with all of you so you can step up your Halloween porch decor.
1. Hocus Pocus
Who doesn’t love the classic Halloween movie, Hocus Pocus?! I know it’s one of my family’s favorite movies to watch during the Halloween season as well as many other people’s. Everyone loves the hilarious Sanderson Sisters. They’re iconic and I know a lot of your friends and family would love to walk up to your front door and see this cute decoration.
2. Simple Pumpkins
Sometimes plain and simple speaks the most volume. When it comes to Fall and Halloween, nothing screams simple more than good ole’ pumpkins. I mean, really, who doesn’t love a beautiful set up of pumpkins? The colors on this door mat mix so well together and would go with almost any other Halloween decor you have on your porch. You just simply can’t go wrong by purchasing this door mat.
3. Trick Or Treat Glam
There’s something about the font and triangle design next to the wording of this mat that has a glamorous Art Deco vibe. It gives the mat a very classic, almost Twilight Zone effect. I also love how they’ve stepped it up to the next level by adding the skeleton hands to make it more spooky. If you’re looking for a simple, yet glamorous door mat, this one has you covered.
4. Home Sweet Haunted Home
I love the play on words in this door mat. “Home, Sweet, Home” is one of the most iconic sayings of all time, so adding the “Haunted” part fits perfectly for Halloween. It gives off the scary vibes that you want during the holiday season and will really create a fun atmosphere for the trick-or-treaters that come to you door. Not to mention that the bloody, dripping letters really set the mood for a haunting invitation.
5. Spiderwebs
I may or may not have already purchased this door mat for our front porch. I love how it’s not too over the top with the Halloween vibes, but still gives off a creepy, crawling feel. The fact that I even like this door mat speaks volumes because I have a horrible, irrational fear of spiders, but I love that this mat isn’t just a plain rectangle like all the other ones you see. The spiderweb shape really makes the mat fun and visually interesting.
6. Shoes Off Witches
Again, we have some more play on words with this door mat. Some of the funniest Halloween decor are those that replace a profane word with “witch” instead. Let’s be real, we all know what it really means, but it’s fun to insert the word “witch” to make people laugh without being so crude. And let’s be honest, no one wants guests wearing their shoes in their home with all the nasty germs that they bring in, so it’s a great way to get the message across without having to tell them yourself.
7. Ouija Board
If you’re looking for the scariest Halloween doormat out there, this Ouija board mat is perfect for you. I mean, really, is there anything spookier than a Ouija Board? Just the sight of them gives me the creeps, as I’m sure it does for many other people. I know this definitely won’t be the right door mat for most people, but there are some out there that are really into those truly scary Halloween decorations, and this one is definitely for them.
8. Oh My Gourd
Anthropologie does it again by knocking it out of the park with a truly cute and clever piece of decor. This mat is just the cutest. It’s welcoming, festive, and has such a fun shape. Like the spiderweb mat, it’s not your typical rectangle door mat. I love how they’ve cut it out to the shape of the pumpkin. It also has that witty play on wording by saying “Oh my gourd,” instead of “Oh my God” that is sure to make people smile.
You really can’t go wrong with any of these door mat options. All of them would look so great on a Halloween decorated porch and I know you’ll find one that is perfect for your home.
