11 Unique Ideas For Creating A Nursery On A Budget

Designing a nursery can be one of the most exciting things about expecting a baby, but also one of the most expensive. All the furniture, bedding, and decorative accessories can add up quickly. It’s often times very overwhelming for new parents. However, you can easily decorate a room, even a nursery on a tight budget. It may take some more research, time, and dedication, but the savings in the end will be worth it. Here are 11 great ideas on how to design a nursery on a budget.

1. Wall Decals

If you can’t afford to paint the whole room or have someone paint a wall mural, opt for much less expensive wall decals. You can find some really adorable ones for nurseries that will go perfect with your design. This is also a great option because it allows you to take down the decals when your child gets older and has grown out of the “baby” stage without having to completely redecorate the whole room.

2. Garage Sales

If you need to design any room on a budget, garage sales are a great place to start. Often times you can find gently used or even brand new items at garage sales. Keep an open mind when shopping at garage sales. You can always repaint furniture and frames and use cute bed sheets to make a crib sheet. Almost everything can be repurposed so keep your eye out for those special gems that will make your nursery look unique. Also, don’t expect to go to one garage sale and find everything you need. You’ll most likely need to go to multiple garage sales to find what you’ll need.

3. Thrift Stores

Thrift stores are another great place to get home decor for less. You can actually find brand new items from Target at Goodwill thrift stores. All items at thrift stores can be repurposed as well. For my son’s nursery I found his crib sheet, curtains, and antler wall hanging all brand new from thrift stores. Thrift stores, like garage sales, must be frequented often to find what you need as well. By just going to one thrift store you most likely won’t find what you’re looking for. Keep going every so often and you’ll have better luck finding those special items.
