As parents, it can be difficult balancing everything we do on a daily basis as well as making sure we are giving our children the words they need to hear in order to feel great about themselves. Every child should know they are loved, wanted, encouraged, and acknowledged. If you can’t remember the last time you told your child you loved them, or that they are an amazing soccer player, or that they make you happy, maybe it’s time to take a step back and realize that we should be telling our children things like these very often. It’s incredibly important for their confidence and self esteem. If you need some inspiration on how to make your child feel great about themselves, here are 15 different ways you can tell them just how amazing they are to you, their friends, and the whole world.

1. You’re Doing A Great Job

Everyone, no matter what their age, wants to hear that they are doing a great job at something. It boosts confidence and makes a person feel better about themselves. It makes them feel like they are not only doing something right or correctly, but that they are doing it well. You can tell them this when they are doing homework, cleaning their room, or practicing their musical instrument.

2. I’m Proud Of You

Children are always aiming to please their parents and to make their parents proud. To hear their parent say these words is like music to their ears. It doesn’t matter what you are proud of them for, in fact you could be proud of them for going potty in the toilet instead of in their pants. Make sure you communicate how proud you are every time you feel proud.

3. You Make Me Laugh

Children love laughing and love making other people laugh, especially their parents. One of the best feelings they could feel from you is to feel that you find them funny. Don’t just laugh at their jokes and the funny things they say, but tell them how funny they are. Everyone should have a sense of humor and we should encourage our kids to explore their funny side and build that sense of humor.
