6. Let the Punishment Fit the Crime
Punishment does not always mean a physical reaction to disobedience. This is another area where we have gained a ton of knowledge in our modern age about the repercussions of physicality that our grandparents probably didn’t know. That being said, parenting without any punishment is a dangerous game. Our kids need to understand the impact of not obeying to avoid a variety of outcomes. Our grandparents may not have employed the greatest methods of punishment, but they embraced the idea in order to teach their kids the difference between right and wrong. There are plenty of methods that do not involve touching children that are very effective!
