7. Indoor Race Track
If your toddler absolutely doesn’t want to sit still, create something they can do while sitting and crawling around on the floor so they can lay down if they need to, such as an indoor race track made out of tape! You can use masking tape or painters tape to make the race track then loop it all over the living room, up and down the furniture, and any other way your toddler will love. They can push their cars all over the track while still “resting” a bit on the floor.

8. Coloring Books
A great activity for kids to do while they sit or lay down is coloring. Bring out all the coloring books, blank papers, crayons, colored pencils and any other coloring item you can think of. If they get tired of coloring, encourage your child to draw their favorite character in the movie they may be watching or the first thing they want to do when they aren’t sick anymore. Giving them more ideas of what to draw and color will keep them interested for longer.
9. Play Dough
Normally, I hate play dough because it creates a huge mess, but since I never let my son play with it, it makes a great long lasting distraction for him that will keep in one place. It’s the perfect item to play with while sitting down for a long period of time. They can get some much needed rest, while still having fun and being entertained as they make shapes with the play dough, mush it in their hands, and mix it all together. You may have a mess to clean up, but the rest they’ll get from it will be worth it.
