Binky, pacifier, soother, call it what you want, but if your child uses one, you’re probably stressing out about taking that beloved pacifier away from them. If your son is anything like mine, sometimes it’s the only thing that helps him feel better and calm down. I am dreading the day I have to take his binky away, but I’m sure with these tricks I can be successful.
1. Make It Taste Bad
There’s nothing like a bad taste to turn your child off from something. We are all too familiar with how they will refuse any food that tastes bad. So, make their binky taste bad. My parents did this to me as a child when I sucked my thumb and it worked. Their particular choice was to use red wine vinegar, but you could use anything as long as it’s safe. Make sure to check with their pediatrician before putting anything on their binky.
