5. Be Consistent

When you ask your kids to do something, you  better be prepared to follow through on what you said you would do if they don’t obey. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been in a store where a mom says “If you don’t put that down in 3 seconds, we are leaving,” only to have the child disobey and they go right on shopping. If you find yourself yelling because you are trying to get your children to listen and obey, make sure you are consistent with your punishment. That way, you won’t have to get to the point of yelling the next time around.
