2. Take a Break
Time outs aren’t just for kids but moms too. If you catch your temperature rising and feel the imminence of yelling, take a break from the action. Your kids know how to push your buttons and the limits and will do it when they can take advantage. Instead of resorting to yelling, step back from the conversation and wait until you’ve calmed down before dealing with the issue. You will not only avoid yelling but will probably dole out a better consequence, having had time to think about it.
