6. Do Not “Surprise” Visit a Mother and Her Newborn
Sometimes in life surprises can be a wonderful thing, but this is clearly not the case in terms of visiting a newborn baby and their mother. Be respectful of the complete lack of schedule the baby is on and likely one very exhausted mother who is extremely sleep deprived. It’s impolite to just show up unannounced expecting to bond with a new baby that may be sleepy, nursing, or fast asleep. Always ask the mother the best time to visit beforehand, and allow them to choose a time that works best with their crazy, upside down lack of schedule.
