
7. Give Them Something To Look At
One thing that really helped my son to fall asleep on his own and then go back to sleep when he woke up in the middle of the night was to have something interesting to look at. I put up a bright colored, spinning mobile that lit up in his crib so he could watch that and listen to it while he went back to sleep. Just that alone helped so much because it distracted him while he was laying in his crib all alone. It helped him focus on something and then he eventually drifted off to sleep on his own. I also put up some busy, colorful patterned crib bumpers. That also gave him something to look at and study as he fell asleep.

8. Give Them A Soothing Bath
If your child is anything like mine, a bath will just excite them more, but some babies are actually really soothed by a bath before bed, especially if you use lavender body wash. Getting them all nice and clean with some warm water and calming scents can be the perfect equation to creating a great night’s sleep.
