4. Safely Clean Blades
No, not daggers or swords or switchblades. We’re talking garbage disposals and blenders. These items can be tricky and dangerous to clean — unless you use ice.
Fill your blender half full with a mix of water and ice, then just press a button. The ice will knock stuck-on grime off the blades. The same goes for your disposal. Get your water running, toss a few cubes in and turn it on. Clean blades with no Band-Aids.
5. Dust With Old Duds
Use old socks or pillowcases to dust ceiling fans and window blinds. Just slip your hand inside and wipe away. If the socks or pillowcase have no life left in them, toss them afterward. Otherwise, remove the biggest clumps of dust and toss them in the wash.
6. Get Every Nook and Cranny
You’re supposed to replace your toothbrush every three to four months, but when you make the swap, don’t throw your old brush in the trash — it still has some life in it. Use your old brush to scrub items with tiny nooks and crannies like your:
- Computer keyboard
- Jewelry
- Can-opener or other kitchen tools
Just make sure your toothbrush is thoroughly clean before you start.
