3. Green Bean casserole
Green bean casserole as we know it today, complete with green beans, cream of mushroom soup, and French’s fried onions on top, most definitely wasn’t present at the first Thanksgiving. Created in 1955 by Dorcas Reilly, a economist with the Campbell Soup Co., this dish has become a staple for most American holiday meals. Green bean casserole isn’t just a favorite for Thanksgiving. It’s estimated that over 50% of all French’s fried onions are sold during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter specifically for our casseroles.
