7. Sweet Potatoes (with marshmallows)

Our taste buds have only been experiencing sweet potatoes with marshmallows here in American since about 1917. While sweet potatoes have been around for awhile (the 1800’s- which means its yet another food not present at the first Thanksgiving) marshmallows were still being invented over in France. When the 1900’s arrived, the French shared their recipe with us and one of our favorite dishes was born.
