2. Potatoes
Potatoes probably weren’t on the table for the first Thanksgiving. Originating in South America, they then made their way around the world to England, then back to the America’s by the 1870’s- far too late for the 1621 meal. Why are they such a staple now? Because everyone loves potatoes. And can you picture turnips and groundnuts on the Thanksgiving table instead?
