3. Don’t Introduce New Habits
It’s tempting to start letting your baby or toddler out of the crib in the middle of the night to lay with you or elsewhere. If you don’t already co-sleep on a regular basis, don’t introduce it now. You are setting yourself up for a sleep crutch that will be difficult to break and also reaffirming to your child that if they cry long enough, they can get out of bed. If you don’t normally let your child cry for long periods of time, don’t start now. Your child is experiencing a lot of things developmentally, so don’t add another scenario to learn to the list!
